All She Ever Wanted...

The book I just finished was All She Ever Wanted by Lynn Austin. Here is the review I wrote on it on Goodreads.

If I could give this 3 and a half stars I would. But on here you either give a book 3 or 4 stars. I really just had this book on my TBR list and decided to finally get it. It was well worth the read. The only part that kind of lost it's touch for me was Fiona's part. But it was a wondeful book that I couldn't put down. It really makes you think about family and how important family is.

And in the year of 2008 (or actually half of it cause that's when I started counting) I read 47 books. My goal was 50 so I was really close. I made a goal at the beginning of this year to read 75 books. I know making a goal of how many books to read is pretty nerdy but I love to read! :)

Now I'm reading Specials by Scott Westerfeld. It's part of the Uglies Series.

Finished a...

book...I finished Phantoms by Dean Koontz today. Here's my review of it...

This book really kept me interested...It was sick and twisted but still interesting. There were times that I was reading it and thought I need to put this book down or I'll have nightmares. But I never had nightmares and I never put it down. I'm loving reading Dean Koontz books more and more.

I started reading All She Ever Wanted by Lynn Austin. And although this book and the one I just finished reading are two totally different topics this one has my interest too. Anyhow, just thought I'd share what I thought was a wonderful book!

I've also...

decided to put recipes that I've tired in here. I know I don't cook much (probably because my hubby, Jamie, is a chef) but I've been trying some. And now that we've got our house and a wonderful kitchen with a gas stove, it just makes me want to try more! :) So, I'll be posting recipes, books I've read, verses out of the Bible I've come across that have meant something to me, and/or quotes that I've come across and like. I may even put movies on here too...Example:

Like right now my husband and mother-in-law (LOVE YOU CINDY!) are watching a stupid movie. It's called Burn After Reading. But last night the three of us watched Eagle Eye and it was awesome!!

Now on to a recipe...I made these cookies for Christmas and people loved them. I actually made three different types of cookies and took them to different places and these were the only ones that I would be willing to make again. I don't like to make stuff that people don't tell me is good. DUH! right? haha. Anyhow here is that recipe...Try it and let me know what you think of it...

Chocolate Chewy Cookies

Makes about 3 1/2 dozen cookies

Ingredients -

2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
2 cups sugar (plus more for rolling and sprinkling)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla

Directions -

1. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt into a bowl.
2. In the bowl of an electric mixer (use the paddle attachment), beat butter and sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about two minutes. Add eggs and vanilla, and beat to combine. Reduce speed to low, and gradually add flour mixture; beat to combine. Form dough into a flattened disk, wrap with plastic wrap, and chill until firm, about 1 hour.
3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough into balls. Roll each ball in sugar. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper, place them about 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake until set which should take 10 to 12 minutes. After taking them out of the oven sprinkle sugar on top of the cookies.

Hope you enjoy!

Finished/Starting...

Well, I finished Gone for Good today. Here is my review of it...

This was a very twisted book. Twisted as in the plot was twisted. It took some thinking to keep up with all the turns that the plot took. But over-all it was worth the read.

The next book I'm starting is Whispers by Dean Koontz. I like most of his other books that I've read so it should be good. :)

Creation of books and verses...

I created this blog just to keep track of books that I'm reading or verses from the Bible that have caught my attention. I might also be posting some lyrics to songs that have caught my attention, who knows!

Right now I'm reading three different books. I have one that I'm listening to in the car which is Amazing Grace by Danielle Steel. The second book is the book that stays at the house so I can read it whenever I'm at home and I don't have to worry about leaving it at work or in my car. This book will probably get read the slowest but oh well. It's Cell by Stephen King. AND the third book I'm reading is one I'll probably be carrying around with me everywhere and it's Gone for Good by Harlan Coben. The only reason I have the house book is so that if I leave the everywhere book somewhere I have something to read. haha...I'm so nerdy, aren't I?

Jamie told me last night that he wanted me to see if I could go a week without reading. I said no way. I've found that reading really de-stresses me. Some people smoke, drink, exercise (that wouldn't hurt for me - haha), etc but I read to destress. So, check back sometime to see which books I'm reading :)
